Tips for Free Design Resources

Whether you work with design for daily, or just need a quick picture for a facebook mail, borrowing items to get the job done quickly and easily can sometimes be useful. Here are some of my favorite resources:

Free icons

Icons can be used both to clarify your design or to make text redundant. (e.g. by social media, username or toilet sign). To avoid drawing new ones each time, use the finished icons that fit your design.

FontAwesome (free of basic version, license for pro) FontAwesome is an icon font that you can use on both web and desktop. Especially on the web has been used a lot in recent years. By installing the font on your server, you can use hundreds of icons. You can also download and use it in your favorite application. FontAwesome comes in both free version and in a pay version, but the free version has over 1200 icons, and holds in a lot for most needs.

FlatIcon (free but with premium packages possible) Icon page which allows you to download vector-sized icon packages. Requires registration, but offers many packages for free. Some packages are premium packages and cost money.

Free stockphoto pages:

Although stock images often cost money, there are some exceptions. Below I have collected some free stockphoto pages that allow commercial use.

Another tip is to check WikimediaSo let's say that this is the same thing as that. Here you can find a lot of exciting, especially historical pictures that you may not find otherwise. However, be aware that not all images are allowed to be used in a commercial context, and that some require credit.

Fonts

Fonts is an effective way to change your message. Although fonts surround us all, and are found on almost all products, there are many who don't think about choosing one that fits. Either you need to find a new profile font for your fire, or you need only something fun for a poster, the resources below can be useful:

Google Font Google Fonts is a collection of fonts that are all free of charge. They're actually meant to be used on the web, but you can also download them and use them on desktops in your design programs. If you want to use them online, you don't have to cough them yourself, just copy the codes that are on the page and paste into your stylesheet.

Adobe TypeKit Typekit is Adobe's collection of fonts. Unlike Google Fonts, it's not free, but if you have a Creative Cloud subscription, it usually includes:

Dafont.com Dafont has a large collection of fonts. They are primarily suitable for desktop use, rather than web use. Quality also varies greatly, and you should be aware that many do not support Norwegian characters. Some of them are also not allowed in commercial projects.

Templates

Stock.adobe.com (pay per item or per month) Adobe Stock allows you to download both images and illustrations for free use. What many people don't know is that they also have a sea of paintings that you can use and customize. They also have a number of vector files that you can process and use in your design.
