New legislation has introduced stricter requirements for the management of users’ personal data in recent years.
The new law, Digital Markets Act, which will enter into force in March 2024, impose stricter requirements on digital platforms such as Google to obtain the consent of users.
In response to this, Google launched Consent Mode v2. a tool that let businesses tell Google whether a user has said yes or no to share their data.
When a user agrees, Google can provide your company with more detailed information and analysis. If the user says no, Google will limit the tracking.
One important advantage of Consent Mode is that it helps understand how people use your website, even if they don't allow them to be tracked. This means that you can get good data and insights, even when some users choose not to share their information.
What's new with Consent Mode v2?
The new Consent Mode v2, ad_user_data and ad_personalization features provide detailed information about the consent to marketing and ad-adapting.
Upgrading to this version is necessary for accurate tracking of conversions and efficient use of target group segmentation and re-marketing.
Also note: Google Ads API v13 the end of 31. January 2024, and it is recommended to upgrade to version 15 immediately. This ensures that you retain functions like Store Sales, Customer Match and Enhanced Conversions for Leads, which otherwise will cease in March.
