Keyword Stuffing

The Web history is full of tricks and tactics used to get to the top of the search engines - including keyword stuffing

Search engines primarily take the form of words on a website to interpret content and determine the relevance to different search phrases. Does this mean that more words in the text make you rank better?

A text that reads, using keywords to read.

Well, in SEO’s “old days” it was filling a website with the words you wanted to rank on a tactic that worked. If the aim was to rank the word ‘flights’, one could simply repeat the word ‘flights’ one hundred times in the text on one page. A somewhat more sophisticated strategy could be to sway the texts with sentences like:

“Here you can find flight, and cheap flight to many destinations. We shall forward flight from many aircraft operators. Flights is a fast way to travel’. You will find a large selection of flight with us.”

An even more sophisticated approach was to list the search terms repeatedly at the bottom or at the edge of a page, then to camouflage them with CSS encoding so that they were invisible before users' eyes, but visible to its time's less intelligent search engines.

It's been years since this juxtatic thing worked, but in the SEO environment there are still outdated perceptions of what creates results. As the algorithms of search engines became more advanced, they spoke of terms such as "keyword density" where they tried to optimise a page as best as possible by mentioning the keyword X number of times divided by text length. Procedures such as this are now completely out of date, and thanks to Hummingbird Update Google is now giving greater emphasis to the use of synonyms and the very nature of the THE PROPOSAL and quality on the contents.

If you have sites on your website that carry the character of keyword stuffing, it is missing the punishment from Google, and users who encounter such pages will immediately conclude that you are an unprofessional actor.
